Rydin Decal Guide – The Difference Between Parking Hang Tags and Decals

There are a few major differences between decals and parking hang tags that you should consider when looking to effectively enforce parking in your lots. I have complied a list of the most important differences so you can make the most informed decision.

Let’s start off with the very basic differences. A parking decal is similar to a bumper sticker. They come in all shapes and sizes, and can be placed on either the vehicle’s bumper, on the inside of the windshield or on the outside of the windshield. If you think your parkers would be against putting a sticker on their vehicle, then parking hang tags are a great solution.

Hang Tags, “hang”, from the rear-view mirror and also come in a number of different sizes and shapes to best meet your to your requirements.

Other Differences:
Ease of Verification – This will depend on the layout of your parking space.  You may find it easiest to visually verify when each vehicle has a sticker on the back of the vehicle because your enforcement staff will be able to see them as they drive up and down the aisles. In some cases, it may be easier for a security person to glance at the rear view mirror as each vehicle enters the lot.  Both are effective, it’s just a matter of personal preference.

Installation - Decals are a little more tricky to install than parking hang tags. In order to get the best results, the space where the decal is going to go needs to be clean and dry, and once you stick it on, there is no going back.  Cling material will let you remove and reapply your permit many times, but they are not as secure as the adhesive versions.

Removal - This is something people often overlook. In order to keep your security tags as secure as possible, it’s necessary to update them on a regular basis. This means the old one must be removed. Decals, by design, can be difficult to remove, but we have a few suggestions on removing your parking hang tags here.  Hang tags can be removed instantly.

Transferable- Once a decal is installed on your vehicle, it is not transferable, unless it is a cling. Parking hang tags, however, can be transferred over and over again.
